Guide · AI contract automation

AI contract automation that ends at paid, not signed.

Most contract tools automate the paperwork and leave the money to you. AirInk drafts the agreement with AI, reviews it for risk, collects an ESIGN-compliant signature, and then executes the payment terms the contract already spells out, milestone by milestone, through Stripe.

What contract automation actually covers

Contract automation is usually sold as document assembly. In a service business the contract is an operating instruction: it decides what gets built, when it is approved, and when money moves. AirInk automates all four stages of that loop.

AI drafting

Describe the job in plain language or upload a contract you already use. AirInk's drafting agent returns a scoped agreement with milestones, cancellation tiers, and change-order language: then saves it as a reusable template.

Automated review and signature

A risk-review agent flags vague scope, missing dates, and unpriced change orders before the client ever sees the document. Signing is ESIGN/UETA-compliant on any device, with a full audit trail and countersigned PDF.

Payment automation

Each milestone carries its own funding rule. Clients fund by card, US bank (ACH), or wire through Stripe; release fires the moment the client confirms or the agreed auto-release rule triggers. No invoice chasing.

Compliance and verification

Anyone who gets paid passes ID, phone, business, insurance, and license verification before they can transact. Credentials auto-expire and demote. Every message is screened, every signature is timestamped and hash-anchored.

AI contract automation FAQ

AI contract automation basics

What the category covers and where AirInk sits inside it.

What is AI contract automation?

AI contract automation is the use of language models to draft, review, route, and administer contracts end to end, turning a description of the work into a signable agreement, flagging risky or missing terms, collecting signatures, and then executing what the contract says about payment. AirInk covers the full loop, including the payment side that most contract tools stop short of.

How is AirInk different from contract lifecycle management (CLM) software?

Traditional CLM tools stop at the signature. AirInk ties each milestone in the contract to a real payment rule processed by Stripe, so releasing funds is part of contract execution rather than a separate accounting task. It is built for service businesses, not enterprise legal departments.

How long does it take to automate my first contract?

Most people send their first automated contract within about ten minutes: describe the job or upload an existing agreement, review the milestones AirInk proposes, add your branding, and send the signing link. No implementation project, no configuration consultant.

Which industries is this built for?

Construction and trades, events and weddings, and professional and creative services, any business that agrees to scoped work in advance and gets paid in stages.

Drafting, review, and signature questions

How the drafting and risk-review agents behave on real agreements.

How accurate is AI contract drafting?

Drafts are generated from industry-tuned templates rather than free-form text, so the structure: parties, scope, milestones, cancellation tiers, change-order language: is consistent every time. You review and edit before anything is sent, and the risk-review agent flags vague scope, missing dates, and unpriced change orders in the same pass.

Can AI-generated contracts be legally binding?

Yes. A contract's enforceability depends on offer, acceptance, consideration, and a valid signature. Not on who typed it. AirInk signatures are captured under ESIGN and UETA with intent-to-sign disclosures, timestamps, IP capture, and a countersigned PDF for both parties. AirInk is not a law firm and its drafts are not legal advice; have counsel review templates you rely on heavily.

Can I edit an AI-generated contract before sending it?

Always. Every clause, milestone amount, and date is editable in the contract editor, and edits you make repeatedly can be saved back into your template so future drafts start from your preferred language.

How do change orders work?

A change order is created against the signed contract, priced on its own, and sent for signature like a mini-agreement. Once accepted it adds or adjusts a milestone, so the payment schedule and the scope stay in sync instead of drifting apart on email.

What happens if a client refuses to sign?

Nothing is binding and no money moves. The contract stays in a pending state with reminders you control, and you can revise and resend or void it entirely. The audit trail records every send, view, and reminder.

Milestone payments, fees, and payouts

How money actually moves once the contract is signed.

What does contract automation cost on AirInk?

Drafting, signing, templates, and the AI agents are included. AirInk charges a platform fee only on released payments: 0.49% plus $2.49 for founding accounts, with no subscription and no minimum. Bank transfer processing is included in that fee. Card payments add card processing as its own line.

How do milestone payments work?

Each milestone in the contract carries its own amount and funding rule. The client funds the milestone by card, US bank (ACH), or wire, and the funds release to your payout account when the client confirms completion or the agreed auto-release rule triggers.

When do I actually receive the money?

Release starts a standard Stripe payout to your connected bank account, so funds typically land in one to two business days after release depending on your payout schedule and bank.

Can I pass processing costs to the client?

Yes. Fee coverage is configurable per contract, so you can absorb processing, pass it through as a separate line, or split it. Because platform fee and processing are always shown as distinct line items, the client sees exactly what each charge is.

What happens if there is a dispute or refund?

Disputes are handled through AirInk's dispute workflow with a timeline of contract events, signatures, messages, and completion evidence attached. Refunds require your explicit action, AI agents can never issue one.

Trust, verification, and compliance

The controls behind identity, evidence, and record-keeping.

How does AirInk verify the side getting paid?

Anyone who gets paid passes layered checks before they can transact: government ID, phone and email, business registration, insurance, professional license, and public business presence. Credentials carry expiry dates and automatically demote the account when they lapse.

What evidence is captured for completed work?

Completion evidence can include GPS-tagged photos, timestamps, and notes attached to the specific milestone, alongside the signature audit trail. That record travels with the contract if a payment is ever questioned.

Is my contract data secure?

Contracts, documents, and messages are stored with row-level access rules so only the parties to an agreement, and staff you authorize, can read them. Milestone release requires multi-factor authentication, and every privileged action is logged.

Are client messages monitored?

Messages are screened automatically for fraud and off-platform payment attempts. Flagged content is blocked and surfaced for review, which protects both sides from the most common contracting scams.

AI agents and your documents

What the agents can do, what they cannot, and what they read.

Do the AI agents ever act without me?

No high-stakes action is autonomous. Agents draft, summarize, triage inbound email, and answer scoped client questions from documents you supply. They cannot issue refunds, change payment terms, or release funds: those require your explicit confirmation, and milestone release requires MFA.

Can I train the agents on my own documents?

Yes. Upload policies, pricing sheets, FAQs, and past contracts to an agent's knowledge library. Client-facing agents answer only from the documents you provide, so they will say they need to check with you rather than inventing an answer.

Can I turn individual agents off?

Every agent is independently toggled. Run only the drafting agent if you want, add email triage later, and disable anything client-facing at any time without affecting your contracts or payments.

Will the agent respond to clients on my behalf?

Only if you enable it, and only within the guardrails you set. Inbound email can be triaged and drafted for your approval instead of sent automatically, so you keep the final word on client communication.

Getting started and migrating

Moving your existing paperwork and clients onto AirInk.

Can I bring my existing contracts into AirInk?

Yes. Upload a PDF, DOCX, scan, or photo of a contract you already use. AirInk extracts the parties, scope, dates, amounts, and milestone structure, then converts it into a reusable AirInk template you can send in a click.

Do my clients need an account?

Clients sign and pay from a link. No subscription and no cost to them. They create a lightweight account only to track an agreement, and larger transactions may require identity verification before funding.

Does AirInk replace my CRM?

For most service businesses, yes. Leads, contacts, tasks, calendar, inbound email, and every agreement live in one place, so the contract and the pipeline are the same system rather than two that need syncing.

What if I already use a separate e-signature tool?

You can retire it. Signing is included at no extra cost with an ESIGN/UETA-compliant audit trail and countersigned PDF, and unlike a standalone signature tool the signed document is what drives the payment schedule.

Automate the contract. Then get paid on it.

Free to hire, pay, and manage work. The side getting paid pays a platform fee only on released payments, with bank transfer processing included in it. Card processing is itemized separately at the rates shown in your fee schedule.
